EXPLORING VALUE

Take your best Thumbnail Composition (the one you turned into a CONTOUR LINE DRAWING) and explore VALUE with it.  VALUE is the difference between dark and light in a composition - lighting can affect the mood, understanding, and overall clarity of your work.  You can use any media to shade in your work, be it graphite, ink, or digital, but you’ll want to include an extreme dark, an extreme light, and at least 3 different midtones (grays) in each of your compositions.  

Place your contour line drawing digitally in the templates provided, or use a photocopied image printed for traditional materials to explore differences in VALUE.
